About the Project

Micheline Barber is a long-time client of mine and she came to me looking for a fresh new website design for her successful salon in Tampa, FL. She wanted a modern, sexy site that showcased her brand and identity in a clean and tasteful way. We began bouncing ideas off one another and eventually came up with the new logo and brand colors.

It kicked off with a new logo design that was sketched out based on some initial ideas I have for the “M” and number 1 combined. I also wanted to add in a cursive element that showcased the femininity of the salon and work.

Next came colors. I loved the idea of a dark palette with a bright splash of some color. Using high-res black and white photos of beautiful african american women to enhance the website since that is her main customer base and demographic.

The copy and wording was a collaborative effort as well and a lot of it was carried over from her legacy site.

The site was built inside Wix in order to allow Micheline to easily make small updates and image changes over time without a designer or developers aid.
